The ESF flag is a derivate of the flags of the following predecessors:

- UNITED NATIONS GOVERNMENT
- - successor of the UNITED NATIONS

- UNITED NATIONS PEACEKEEPING FORCES
- - successor of the NATO

Symbolisations:

- blue background and globe:
- - earth - origin of mankind and earth's claim for the exclusive control of all colonies

- partial visible compass rose and ring around it:
- - endeavour to increase earth's sphere of influence and to reunite mankind

- olive branches:
- - peace for whole mankind

- 10 stars:
- - representation of the ten loyal earth colonies (including luna)

- 4 arrow-lines:
- - willingness to fullfill their goals, if necessary also by using the military
